Why this site exists
A bar and a bumper pool table are the two things every home bar and game room gets built around, and both are bought badly for the same reason: the decisive specification is never the one in the headline. Two pool tables that look identical differ entirely in whether the bed is slate or laminated wood. A “126 can” drinks fridge holds about seventy once real bottles go in. A beautiful bar cart cannot stand a 750 ml bottle upright. And a bar stool at the wrong height is unusable no matter how good it looks.
Bar Bumpertakes the opposite approach. Every pick is chosen against the specs that actually decide whether gear lasts and whether it fits — and we publish the floor space, the clearances and the capacities rather than leaving you to discover them on delivery day. Every price is pulled live from Amazon and stamped with the date we verified it. When we can't stand behind a number, we say “check price” instead of guessing.
Who writes this
Bar Bumper is written by Stephen V., an enthusiast who's genuinely into putting together bars and game rooms that get used. That framing is deliberate and honest: I'm not a bartender, a cabinetmaker, or a product engineer, and I don't run a testing lab. What I do is read the manuals, compile the published specs — play surface, capacity, output, dimensions, clearances — do the room arithmetic, and cite every number so you can check my work.
That's the whole method, and it's the honest one. The big review publishers lead with test labs and credentialed reviewers; a lot of them also quietly recycle spec sheets and manufacturer photos while claiming hands-on testing. I'd rather compete on something you can verify: transparent, reproducible spec analysis. If a spec is wrong, you can catch me. You can't do that with “we tested it in our lab.”
What we will never do
- Claim to have hands-on tested gear we haven't. Units we claim to have lab-tested: zero, and we'll always say so.
- Invent reviews, ratings, star counts, or credentials.
- Show a price we can't verify live, or leave a stale number on the page.
- Recommend a more expensive product because it pays more. The gear that meets the spec for the least money wins — always.
