What historically discounts in home gym gear (and what rarely does)

We do not have multi-year price history for every product we track, so this section is built from what was actually reported in past Novembers, cited at the bottom of the page. The pattern is consistent enough to plan around.

Adjustable dumbbells are the most reliable discount in the category. Coverage of Amazon's early Black Friday sale on November 17, 2025 listed a FEIERDUN adjustable dumbbell set at 35% below its list price, and the Bowflex SelectTech 552 — the most-tracked product in this niche — was reported at what one deals site called its best price of the year in the Black Friday to early-December window of 2024. The same sets appear in October Prime Big Deal Days coverage most years, which is worth knowing if you cannot wait until late November.

Motorized cardio is the most heavily promoted class every November. The 2025 early-sale coverage listed a folding treadmill at 46% off list, a walking pad at 27% off and a magnetic rower at 37% off, and treadmill deal roundups from Forbes Vetted and others are an annual fixture. It is also the class where the crossed-out price is least trustworthy — see the section on fake discounts below.

Benches and accessories discount often, but from low prices. A YOLEO adjustable bench was listed at 38% off list and a Vinsguir ab roller at 41% off in the November 2025 coverage. Specialty brands ran flat percentages on benches too (REP Fitness at 10% in 2025). Real savings, small dollars.

Racks, barbells, cast iron and flooring rarely produce a meaningful Amazon discount. Specialty brands do run rack and plate promotions in November — Titan Fitness was reported at 20% off power racks in 2023, and Rogue's per-pound 'Hundo' plate pricing has been reported in past Novembers — but those brands are not what we rank. For the budget cages, bar-and-plate bundles and stall mats on this site, the price is mostly steel and freight, and freight does not go on sale. We found nothing in the coverage we reviewed that shows commodity iron or rubber flooring as a dependable Black Friday category, and we are not going to pretend otherwise.

Buy now or wait for November?

The table below is the whole decision, one row per product class. The rule behind it: waiting only makes sense when the historical discount is real and the piece is not the thing stopping you from training this week. A rack you do not own for two months costs more than a rack discount saves.

How to tell a real Black Friday discount from a fake one

Amazon's percent-off badge is measured against a list price, and list prices in this category are often numbers the product has never actually sold at. In November 2025 a widely shared example showed a kitchen appliance that had sold at roughly the same price for two months, was marked up in early November, and then dropped back to its normal price with a 26% off badge for the Black Friday sale. Consumer researchers who tracked prices at 25 major retailers for six months reported that most advertised markdowns were not special prices at all. Fitness equipment, with its inflated list prices, is a prime candidate for the same trick.

1. Check the price history, not the badge. A free tracker such as camelcamelcamel or the Keepa browser extension shows what an Amazon listing has actually sold for. A deal is only a deal against a price the product has really held.
2. Decide on the model before the sale. Know the exact product and its normal price from our roundups. Reacting to a banner on the day is how people buy the wrong bench.
3. Compare the delivered price. Heavy gear is priced by weight. A slightly higher sticker with free shipping often beats a cheaper listing that adds freight.
4. Watch for the model-number swap. Sale listings on cardio machines sometimes point to a lighter, cheaper variant of the product you researched. Check the capacity rating and motor spec on the listing you are actually buying.
5. Ignore "only N left" urgency. Budget gear restocks. If a deal is gone, another arrives — Cyber Monday and the following week have carried fitness deals in recent years too.
